Fiat and Flame

Fiat and Flame is a Catholic ministry centered on a simple desire: to say yes to God faithfully and to live that yes through the fire of the Holy Spirit.
The name reflects these two movements of the Christian life. Fiat means “let it be done,” echoing Mary’s response to God: “Let it be done to me according to your word.” Her fiat was an act of trust, courage, surrender, and love—a willingness not only to hear God’s call, but to allow her life to be shaped by it.
The flame represents the Holy Spirit, whose presence transforms, strengthens, purifies, and sends us into the world to serve. Together, fiat and flame express a faith that is both surrendered to God and alive with His Spirit.
At the heart of the ministry are three things that naturally belong together: devotion, formation, and charity.
Devotion
Our life with God begins and continually deepens through relationship with Him. Through prayer, Scripture, sacred art, poetry, reflection, and the rich devotional life of the Catholic Church, Fiat and Flame seeks to create opportunities to draw closer to God and become more attentive to His presence in ordinary life.
Authentic devotion is never meant to remain separate from the rest of our lives. As we grow closer to God, that relationship gradually shapes the way we think, speak, forgive, endure, love, and respond to the people around us. Devotion draws our hearts toward Him so that our lives can increasingly reflect His love.
Formation
As we come to love God more deeply, we naturally want to know Him more deeply as well. The Catholic faith offers a remarkable richness to explore through Scripture, theology, Church teaching, Catholic tradition, and the wisdom and witness of the saints.
Fiat and Flame seeks to make ongoing formation thoughtful, accessible, and relevant to everyday life. Formation is about more than accumulating religious knowledge; it helps us understand what we believe, why we believe it, and how our faith should shape our choices, relationships, responsibilities, work, and service to others.
In this way, formation gives depth to devotion and prepares us to live what we believe.
Charity
A faith that is being nourished through devotion and strengthened through formation should naturally become visible in the way we love and serve others.
Charity can take many forms. It may mean generosity or organized service, but it can also be found in caregiving, encouragement, hospitality, practical assistance, physical work, or simply being present when someone needs another person to show up.
Fiat and Flame has a particular commitment to hands-on charity—love that notices real human needs and responds with dignity, compassion, and care. We believe that service is not something separate from spiritual life, but one of its natural fruits. The closer we draw to God and the more deeply we understand our faith, the more willing we should become to give ourselves for the good of others.
The Heart of Fiat and Flame
Devotion, formation, and charity are not three unrelated parts of the ministry. They describe a natural movement of the Christian life: we draw near to God, allow Him to form us, and carry His love with us into the world.
That response may take shape through prayer and contemplation, through learning and teaching, or through rolling up our sleeves and meeting a practical need. In each case, it begins with the same willingness expressed in Mary’s fiat: Here I am. Let it be done according to Your will.
Fiat and Flame exists to encourage that faithful yes and to trust the Holy Spirit to kindle it into something that serves God and others.

Fiat and Flame
